The story behind it
Around 2,000 years ago, Sangam literature was born – the oldest surviving poetry in the Tamil language. Its poets divided the world into five landscapes (Tiṇai): Kurinji – the mountains, Mullai – forests and pastures, Marutham – fertile farmland, Neithal – the coast, and Palai – the dry wasteland.
Each landscape had its own animals, flowers and seasons – and stood for a feeling: union, patient waiting, quarrel, longing, parting. Nature became the language of love and life.
The design
