The story behind it

Tamils live on every continent today. As early as the 19th century, tens of thousands moved as workers to Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, South Africa, Fiji and the Caribbean. Later, large communities grew in Canada, the UK, France, Germany and Switzerland – from Toronto to London to Zurich.

Wherever Tamil families went, they took their language, food, music and festivals with them. The roots remain – even far from home. This design is part of the THIS IS TAMIL ROOTS series.
